Tokyo Racecourse

Tokyo Racecourse is the course in Tokyo that is the home of the Japan Cup and the Japan Cup Dirt.

Tokyo Racecourse has both Turf and Dirt tracks. The Turf track is on the outside nearest to the Grandstand.

JRA's dirt courses are based on designs used in the United States, but fine-tuned to handle Japan's higher rate of precipitation. Tracks are packed firmly with a layer of mountain sand to support the horses` hooves and then covered with approximately 80mm (3.15 inches) of loose river sand to absorb impact and ease leg stress.
