Kentucky Derby 2014

California Chrome won the 140th Kentucky Derby impressively.

Sent off as the 5-2 favorite in the field of 19, California Chrome took command at the top of the stretch, scoring a one and three quarter length victory before a crowd of 164,906, the second-largest in Derby history, in a time of 2:03.66.

Art Sherman became the oldest trainer to win the Run for the Roses at 77. California Chrome was ridden by jockey Victor Espinoza.

California Chrome has now won his last four races by a combined 24 1/4 lengths. He is the fifth California bred winner of the prestigious event
