Joe Janiak is totally out of order

Joe Janiak has made some comments about racing in Hong Kong that bring him into the spotlight of criticism rather than his intended target, the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

He has made certain allegations that his treatment by the HKJC and its processes are less than fair and he has even referred to an unrelated incident to support his case. In the view of Great Racehorses, Joe Janiak is totally in the wrong with his criticisms of how Takeover Target was treated when scratched from the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint last December.

The fact is that the HKJC rules are clear for all to see and it is paramount that all horses must be drug-free on race day - that is an absolute test and sadly Takeover Target had a prohibited substance in his system on raceday - its as simple as that.

I was there at Sha Tin that day and the HKJC gave the connections right up to the last possible moment to test Takeover Target a final time.

A larger stable with more experience may have been more mature and simply accepted the decision but Joe has decided to snipe at the HKJC from the comfort of home. This is unworthy of him.

The HKJC has been consistent over time in applying its rules fairly to allcomers and all experienced owners, trainers and jockeys know this. In our view Joe Janiak owes the HKJC a big apology (Robert Bishop).
