Hong Kong Vase 2015

Highland Reel won the 2015 Hong Kong Vase.

The Ballydoyle horse became the first three-year-old colt to triumph in the 2400 metre race and also gave trainer Aidan O’Brien his first ever Hong Kong victory.

Highland Reel’s length and a half triumph also ended a long LONGINES Hong Kong International Races drought for Ireland, stretching back to the Jim Bolger trained Alexander Goldrun win in the 2004 Hong Kong Cup.

The winning time was 2m 28.43s.

The Andre Fabre trained Flintshire, the 2014 winner, was second and the Alain de Royer-Dupre trained Dariyan, another three-year-old colt, was a further length and a half back in third.

The quality field included Cirrus Des Aigles.
