Hong Kong Cup 2005

Vengeance Of Rain, by Zabeel out of Danelagh (by Danehill), had a magnificent 2005, which culminated in him becoming World Racing Series champion.

Firstly, he won the 2005 Hong Kong Derby, sponsored by Mercedes–Benz, by two and three quarter lengths from Russian Pearl and High Intelligent.

Vengeance Of Rain next went on to win the 2005 Audemars Piguet QE II Cup from Greys Inn, Russian Pearl and Super Kid and then the Champions & Chater from Best Gift. This was his third Group One victory in a row.

After a narrow win in the Cathay Pacific International Cup Trial, Vengeance Of Rain headed for the 2005 Hong Kong Cup.

Ridden as usual by Anthony Delpech, Vengeance Of Rain demonstated a combination of class and courage to beat French mare Pride with Maraahel third and the Tony Cruz trained Russian Pearl fourth.

Jockey Anthony Delpech said "He is the best horse I've ever ridden and I don't think I'll ever ride one like him again. Horses like him come round just once in a blue moon.”

Vengeance Of Rain produced the highest rating of the HKIR day in winning the Hong Kong Cup and was duly crowned World Racing Series champion.

Vengeance Of Rain is trained by David Ferraris.
