Captain Steve

Captain Steve won the sixth Dubai World Cup in 2001.

Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Jerry Bailey, Captain Steve won impressively by three lengths from Japanese runner To The Victory, with Hightori third.

Captain Steve started a 7-4 joint favourite, while To The Victory was 25-1 and Hightori 8-1.

Captain Steve was Bob Baffert`s second win in the Dubai World Cup following Silver Charm in 1998 and was Jerry Bailey`s third win following Cigar in the first Dubai World Cup in 1996 and then Singspiel in 1997.

In 2000, Captain Steve finished third in the Breeders Cup Classic behind Tiznow and Giants Causeway.
