Singspiel


Singspiel, by In the Wings, won the second Dubai World Cup in 1997.

1997 was the year when the Dubai World Cup was postponed for five days because of torrential rain. When the race was run on the following thursday, Singspiel won by over one length from the two Richard Mandalla trained runners, Siphon and Sandpit.

Owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Singspiel was trained by Michael Stoute and ridden by Jerry Bailey.

Singspiel `s impressive list of globetrotting victories in major races included the Canadian International and the Japan Cup, as well as finishing runner up in the Breeders Cup Turf.
