Singapore Airlines International Cup 2011

Gitano Hernando won the 2011 Group One Singapore Airlines International Cup over 2000 metres at Kranji.

Ridden by Glyn Schofield and trained by Herman Brown, Gitano Hernando won by half a length over River Jetez with Irian and Waikato in a dead heat for third place a length further back. The quality field also included California Memory.

The winning time was 2min 3.93secs.

Gitano Hernando’s win followed his sixth place in the 2011 Dubai World Cup behind Victoire Pisa and his three and a half lengths eighth place behind Ambitious Dragon in the 2011 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 2000 metres in Hong Kong.

Herman Brown was winning his second SIA Cup following his success with Jay Peg in 2008.

Gitano Hernando, who returned a win dividend of $73, is owned by the President of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.
