Baystone

Baystone won the 1958 Melbourne Cup.

It was the first Cup started from starting stalls.

Baystone started the 10-1 favourite and won by one and a half lengths over Monte Carlo, the Mackinnon Stakes winner, and Red Pine in third.

Baystone was the first horse in Cup history to win wearing the number 7 saddlecloth.

His owners were Noel and Anne Burns.
